When did you join Illinois CancerCare?

August 2016

Hobbies / Interests

I enjoy spending time traveling and with my family.

What medical change has impacted the field of cancer the most since you began practicing medicine?

Immunotherapy is giving patients a chance to have a better quality of life while still fighting their cancer.

Why did you choose your field?

I chose oncology because I have had several family members who have/are currently battling cancer. After doing a rotation while I was in school on the oncology unit, I knew I had found my calling. There was something about the inner strength of the patients that I met that really amazed me!

Having worked at the Peoria area hospitals as an RN for many years, I knew of Illinois Cancer Care and the great reputation they had in Peoria. Peoria is very lucky to have a cutting edge cancer center in their backyard!

Do you have any advice to give patients after they have been diagnosed with cancer?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. A new cancer diagnosis can be scary and the amount of information you receive can be so overwhelming. We are here for you.
