Hobbies / Interests

I love playing and watching cricket, and am even part of the Cricket Association of Peoria’s Champions League! I also enjoy watching NBA and Soccer League matches. Apart from that, I go to the gym regularly and bike ride with my son. I consider myself a foodie and like to try new restaurants and dishes – always open to your suggestions! My bucket list includes visiting various tourist spots throughout the United States and around the world.

What medical change has impacted the field of cancer the most since you began practicing medicine?

I think the biggest change has been the availability of customized cancer treatment plans for patients. Targeted therapy with treatment focusing on the molecular level has also proven to be a game changer as far as cancer management is concerned.

Why did you choose your field?

I chose hematology/oncology as there has been an abundance of research and new therapies that have come to the limelight in the last 10-15 years. This promises to make an impact on the lives of patients who have been waiting for such change for quite some time. It’s a challenging field, but knowing that my therapies will not only impact my patients but their families, as well, makes it very satisfying.

Why did you choose Illinois CancerCare?

Illinois CancerCare is one of the largest private hematology/oncology practices in the nation with specialized cancer care and general hematology/oncology at the many satellite clinics. Illinois CancerCare provides cutting-edge treatment to communities throughout central Illinois – giving patients access to the same treatment they would find at larger, further institutions. I look forward to being part of the Illinois CancerCare team!

Do you have any advice to give patients after they have been diagnosed with cancer?

A cancer diagnosis is a life-changing event. It is a battle that not only the patients but their families commit to right at the very outset. I encourage my patients to stay positive throughout this battle, try to lead a normal life as much as feasible and enjoy all the little moments in life. The team at Illinois CancerCare will do whatever we can to help our patients deal with this difficult phase in the lives of our patients.
