When You Should Refer

  • Younger-than-expected cancer
  • Multiple primary cancers in one person
  • Rare or unusual cancers or tumor features suggestive of a hereditary syndrome
  • Multiple relatives with the same or related cancers across generations
  • A known pathogenic or likely pathogenic variant in the family
  • Patients weighing treatment choices where germline results may inform therapy
  • Unaffected individuals with significant family history needing risk assessment

Results are reviewed with the patient, and clinically relevant findings are communicated back to the referring provider to support care coordination.
